Mechanism of Action (MOA)

Zinc oxide acts as a physical barrier by reflecting and scattering UV radiation. Octinoxate and enzacamene absorb UVB rays, while avobenzone absorbs UVA radiation. Together, these agents provide comprehensive protection against a broad range of ultraviolet wavelengths, helping prevent sunburn, skin aging, DNA damage, and hyperpigmentation.

Pharmacokinetics
  • Absorption: Minimal systemic absorption through intact skin.
  • Distribution: Localized in the stratum corneum.
  • Metabolism: Not systemically metabolized.
  • Excretion: No significant systemic elimination; acts locally.
  • Note: Use caution on large, broken, or inflamed skin areas where absorption may increase.
Pregnancy Category & Lactation
  • Pregnancy: Generally considered safe due to minimal absorption; use with caution.
  • Lactation: Safe when applied away from the breast area; avoid nipple or areola application to prevent infant ingestion.
  • Recommendation: Safe under normal use; avoid extensive, prolonged use without medical advice.
